"Ghostly Nya *Slap!* Sorry"

Films: Kuroneko (1968)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted Home/Forest

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: War has its casualties. But you know what's even sadder? The fact that some of those casualties are deliberately invoked by those not worthy to wield a sword to begin with, even if they do. Yone and Shige were amongst that type of casualty. But they came back...

History: Yone and her daughter-in-law Shige found themselves caught up in a civil war taking place in Heian period Japan. Some soldiers came over, beat them, killed them, and burned their house down. Then a black cat came over, licked their corpses, and therefore allowed them to come back as vengeful spirits seeking to destroy any samurai they see. But wait! Shige's fiancé is a samurai now! Looks like only seven days for them to enjoy each other’s company.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: The fiancé, having been told to kill the ghosts, severs one's limb, but fails to actually kill them, as Shige ascends through the ceiling and to the heavens above for her and her mother-in-law's purification. The samurai is left to lie in the snow of the decapitated house.

Powers/Abilities: Can disappear and float while disemboweling necks.

Weakness: Judging by that limb removal, a samurai sword.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Honor or no honor, samurais were screwed when this duo was around. Still, it doesn't change the fact that they're pretty sympathetic (and beautiful, no less). Also, those look like big, burnt eyebrows on you two. Drop the look, it's not threatening.

Trivia: -Cats (or neko) in Japan are symbols of blessings and good luck, not death as this film would imply.

-A vengeful Japanese maiden spirit is known as a Onryo. These yokai enjoy physically and/or psychologically tormenting those who wronged them when they were alive.

Perfect saumersault.

Because dinner with relatives wasn't awkward enough already.

For the love of my sanity, never show that again.
